Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson shared today (Wednesday, 3rd September) that he, his wife Lauren Hashian, and both their daughters, Jasmine and Tiana, have been tested positive for COVID-19.

The actor shared the diagnoses in his 11-minute IGTV video, which he uploaded on his Instagram profile @therock. He stated in the video, “It has been the most challenging and difficult thing we had to endure as a family”.

The video began with the actor comparing the difficulties he had endured in the past, “Testing positive for COVID-19 is much different than overcoming nasty injuries, being evicted, or being broke, which I have been more than a few times“.

He added, “The reason why I feel this is different because my No.1 priority is to always protect my family, my children and my loved ones. I wish it was only me that tested positive but it wasn’t so, this was a real kick in the gut.”

The highest-paid actor updated that he and his family have been going through the ordeal for around three weeks. He went on to say that they are currently recovering and are no longer contagious. “We thank God we are healthy, we got through COVID-19 stronger and healthier. Believe me, I am counting my blessings,” he gratefully stated.

“We are well aware that it isn’t always the case that you get [to] the other end of COVID-19 stronger and healthier, I’ve had some of my best friends lose their parents and loved ones to this virus that is so incredibly relentless and unforgiving. We are counting our blessings but we are good,” he continued.

The Rock described the experience for him and his wife as a “rough go.” However, the silver lining is that their 2 babies, Jasmine, 4, and Tiana, 2, experienced nothing more than a “sore throat.” He added, “Other than that they bounced back and it’s been life as normal, happy babies running around but we had to isolate ourselves as a family, but we are good.”

He wrapped up the video with an important message for everyone stating, “Wear your mask, boost your immune system, think twice about who you have over to your house and, if they are coming over get them tested. Around the world, use me as your example, remember these takeaways, stay healthy and I’ll see you down the road.”

The Jumanji actor are among some of the few Hollywood celebrities that have overcome the virus,  including Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks, British actor Idris Elba and more.
