For some years now, British pop star Dua Lipa has had her own weekly lifestyle newsletter and website called Service95 where she gives tips on culture, travel and fashion, among other things. Under that brand, she launched her online book club where she shares recommendations from featured authors, reading guides, playlists, and more, to engage readers around the world.
Recently, she has named Tintabudi Bookshop, a bookstore in Kuala Lumpur, as her ‘Indie Bookshop of the Month’. On Instagram, she wrote: “In addition to their thoughtful curation of titles, Tintabudi takes their love of reading beyond the bookshelves, creating a space for their community to discuss books, listen to public lectures and be part of hands-on workshops.”
Additionally, the Tintabudi team got to share their current reads, mentioning notable works like Arundhati Roy’s “Mother Mary Comes To Me”, Ghassan Kanafani’s “Men in the Sun: And Other Palestinian Stories”, Budi Darma’s “People From Bloomington”, Farish Noor’s “The Long Shadow Of The 19th Century”, and Fatimah Busu’s “An Ordinary Tale About Women And Other Stories” as standout favourites.
Tintabudi has even set up a special shelf filled with selections from Dua Lipa’s monthly book club picks so you can read along. Be sure to drop by and check out her picks!
