There’s a saying which claims opposites attract. While some might disagree, real-life couple 艾文 (Ai Wen) and 夏夏 (Xia Xia) are proving them wrong.
Ai Wen and Xia Xia have been making waves for being such a loving couple and the fact that their appearances are the complete opposite of each other. Still, they complement each other well, and that has truly gotten the attention of many netizens.
Ai Wen, from Sabah, Malaysia, and Xia Xia, from Chengdu, China, first met when they were diving in Malaysia in 2016. It was apparently love at first sight. However, their appearance together will usually catch many off-guard as Xia Xia is petite in nature and is in stark contrast to her partner Ai Wen’s darker skin and larger stature.
Netizens have previously asked Xia Xia what led to her choosing to marry Ai Wen, as the two seem like night and day. She explained that she liked boys who were willing to spend money on her. Ai Wen had allegedly not hesitated to drop 100,000 yuan (~RM63,000) on her but only spent 5 yuan (~RM3) on himself. “It moved me so much that I decided to marry him,” Xia Xia shared.
Ai Wen has also never hesitated to show his care and love for Xia Xia, which was best demonstrated when she was pregnant with their first child in 2018. Xia Xia captured moments of Ai Wen taking over house chores for her, surprising her with small gifts and flowers, researching way to look after her better and best of all, understanding what he needed to be a good father.
The contrast and the couple’s love for one another has certainly boosted their views on their shared Douyin account, 马来西亚大黑哥. Their videos have featured sweet moments in their lives; from cute, playful moments to meaningful ones, such as their marriage and their children.
Well, it has been a delight to netizens to witness these moments, and the family was blessed further when they had another child, a daughter, earlier this year (2023) in March! We sincerely hope they continue their loving journey and wish them well in life!
