We all know fairy tales usually end with a “happy ever after”. However, when we get older, it becomes obvious that things do not always end with a happy ever after. Take celebrity couple Dong Zi Jian (董子健) and Sun Yi (孙怡) for instance.
The two announced their divorce this morning (8th August) via their socials. In addition to releasing a statement about it through their studios, Zi Jian and Sun Yi also revealed their amiable separation on Weibo.
Sun Yi made the first move with a post around 10am this morning. “I wished us well in the past, and I wish you and me (in) the future,” the actress wrote, tagging Zi Jian’s Weibo. Zi Jian himself made a separate post on his account, saying, “We are all fine!”
Their posts were followed up by their studios releasing a statement. “After careful consideration by both parties, the two have decided to separate peacefully and end their marriage,” the statement read. The studios added that both parties have already completed the relevant procedures. However, the two will still be raising their children together.
Sun Yi and Zi Jian announced their relationship in 2016 before tying the knot the next year. Their daughter was later born in September 2017. Although it was a short marriage, at least the duo parted on amiable terms. Well, we wish the duo well on the next chapter of their lives.
