Disney’s “The Lion King” Live in Concert, featuring Hans Zimmer’s Academy Award-winning score, is making its historic Malaysian debut this June. Brought to life by the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) Malaysia under the baton of its Resident Conductor, Mr. Eric Lee, the concert will be staged at the Plenary Hall, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, with two performances on Saturday, 13th June 2026, at 2.30pm and 8pm.
Bringing together three generations – from children to grandparents – fans of Disney’s “The Lion King” in Malaysia will be immersed in the power of the legendary film through the rich, resonant sound of a full orchestra.
The original 1994 animated film features unforgettable music by a notable team of Oscar and Grammy winners, including superstar Elton John, lyricist Tim Rice, and composer Hans Zimmer, with African vocal and choir arrangements by South African producer and composer Lebo M (“Rhythm of the Pride Lands”).
“The Lion King” journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolises his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother and former heir to the throne, has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is riddled with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from his long-lost friend, Nala, and a curious pair of newfound friends, Pumbaa and Timon, Simba must figure out how to face his past and take back what is rightfully his.
