It has been a long 10-year wait, but singer Li Ronghao (李荣浩) made it worthwhile when he finally returned to perform for Malaysian fans last weekend at Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil. Ronghao admitted that he felt guilty about making fans wait this long and wanted to make up by performing his entire discography. While that wasn’t possible, he treated fans to more than 20 songs.
The “Free Soul World Tour” not only encapsulated various stages of his life, but the singer also treated concert-goers to a unique and immersive experience with cutting-edge technology by taking everyone there on a spectacular audio-visual journey. It was electrifying (his rap spitting skills was dope) yet also tender (during his ballad performances), but better yet, his charming personality captivated the audience.
The next day, Diorlying Tan (Dior大颖) took to her Instagram Stories to share about her concert experience. “Do you know what’s so cool about Li Ronghao? The minute he came onstage, it was… Wa Sai! Speechless. He has the X-factor that make fans not only idolise him but also aspire to become like him. Not only does he excel at playing drums and guitar, but his energy onstage is also infectious,” the Malaysian star raved about the idol.
When Ronghao posted his post-concert photos, many fans flooded the gallery with praise and admiration for the singer-songwriter. Concert-goers thanked him for giving them such a memorable night. Dior大颖’s comment stood out when she wrote, “I already felt like cheating as soon as the concert started.”
Like many artists who performed in Malaysia, the entertainer quipped that he didn’t expect Kuala Lumpur to be so humid. This statement alone prompted fans to ask him to go shirtless. Knowing that there’s a law against that, Ronghao candidly explained why it wouldn’t be a good idea. “If I take my shirt off while singing a love song, it might cause discomfort. I probably look like your typical middle-aged man without my shirt anyway,” he said.
Diorlying wasn’t there alone that night though. She was seated next to fellow local singer Firdhaus that night. At several times during the concert, the cameraman would pan the spotlight on fans singing along to Ronghao. Some would react shyly with a smile, some waved, and a few couples kissed. Fans also cheered when Diorlying and Firdhaus appeared on the large screens.
