The local beauty pageant “Dewi Remaja” has been around for more than 30 years. Throughout the years, several famous names have taken part, and soon made their names for themselves in the local showbiz. Among them include Rozita Che’ Wan, Scha Alyahya, Neelofa, Anna Jobling and also Shaza Bae.
After a two-year-long hiatus, “Dewi Remaja” is finally back with a bang! Last week on Tuesday (2nd August), Facebook page Remaja unveiled the Top 16 finalists on the running to become the next winner of the coveted crown. That being said, it appears that netizens were less then ecstatic upon seeing the girls’ faces.
The FB post was immediately flooded with scathing comments from keyboard warriors online. Many questioned the selection of this year’s “Dewi Remaja” contestants. Most of them argued that the contestants are not as pretty as the “Dewi Remaja” participants from the previous years. To make matters worse, some even left insulting remarks to the participants!
Among the hateful comments left by the commenters include, “I thought these photos are from the 80s,” “None of them catches my eyes. Why?” “It’s so different as compared to the different seasons of ‘Dewi Remaja’. Back then, most of the participants have youthful faces. But now, most of them look like they are someone’s mom.” “From the camera angle to the makeup, everything is a failure. Even the prettiest one looks like the ‘Hero Remaja 1978’ winner.”
