There’s no doubt that we Asians love to eat! Even though we might be full from a delicious meal, there’s always room for desserts. Other than the classic western flavours such as Chocolate, Vanilla, and Strawberry, many also favour Asian flavours such as Red Bean, Green Tea, Tapioca, Pandan, Mango and Taro!

Taro (also known as Yam) is a popular dessert flavour choice among many Asians, due to the natural sweetness to it. However, it’s not for everyone. Foodies and adventurous individuals, here are 4 must-try dessert shops in the Klang Valley that offer Taro flavoured treats that would make you crave more!

1. Bake it Batter Bakery

The Taro Sponge Cake is one of the top-selling choices for Bake it Batter Bakery. The cake has a beautifully layered cross-section with cream and Taro paste which gives it a blueish-purple hue. Although, the bakery does not have a physical store, you can still order through their Facebook and WhatsApp.

2. KAKIYUKI

KAKIYUKI is a popular establishment in the Klang Valley that focuses on serving refreshing treats which are made from ice. The establishment provides Asian flavoured treats and one of their best selling desserts would be the Taro Roll Cake.

The roll cake is rich in flavouring due to the custard and taro paste blending two contrasting flavours together which makes you crave more after one bite. KAKIYUKI is found in many malls in the Klang Valley, for instance, The Gardens Mall and Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.

3. Shugatori

Shugatori is a quirky dessert shop located at Damansara Uptown and they are Taro friendly to all Taro lovers. Their Taro waffle is a must-try for fans of the vegetable.

The waffle is made with Taro infused batter that gives the waffle a pretty purple colour that is Instagram-worthy. Not only that, it’s also topped with a single scoop of Taro ice cream to vary the Taro flavour. Other than Taro waffles, the dessert shop also has other Taro treats on their menu.
