Desaru Coast is further strengthening its position as an international sports tourism destination with the hosting of the World Amateur Golfers Championship (WAGC) World Final 2026. Taking place from 23rd to 31st October 2026, the championship will bring together approximately 650 amateur golfers and delegates from more than 50 countries, highlighting Johor’s growing reputation as a golf tourism destination.

Together, these events demonstrate the breadth of our sports tourism offering and reinforce our ambition to become one of Asia’s leading destinations for international sporting events.”
He said the championship also supports the aspirations of Visit Johor Year 2026 by bringing international attention to Johor and Desaru Coast. “The WAGC World Final provides an important platform to showcase Johor’s tourism assets while creating tangible economic benefits for local businesses and communities.”
