June is Acne Awareness Month! Clear Start by Dermalogica has partnered with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) to announce the campaign and new range of products on Wednesday (15th June). The virtual event kickstarted with host Melissa Th’ng with Filipino-American Beauty Content Creator Kristina Rodulfo, cosmetologist and Dermalogica Master Instructor Sarah Miller, and brand representative and Dermalogica’s Business Development Manager in Asia Yvonne Teh.
They brought the spotlight to the significance of body neutrality – in this case, the act of calling out and resisting acne censorship. In addition, they highlighted the part that media messaging plays and how it impacts the youth’s mental health, as well as their personal experience and professional insights into the universal journey of struggling with one’s skin.

“I’ve had clients come in and tell me the most outrageous things they’ve tried – toothpaste, cotton with alcohol, one instance was someone used tape to try and fix their acne,” said Miller. She added that there are contributing factors to acne, such as lifestyle, bacteria, and even genetics, and that acne is a way for the body in getting rid of bacteria. Hence, it is entirely normal to have breakouts.
With Dermalogica’s Clear Start line to help you gain confidence, you can pledge to love your skin and encourage others not to succumb to negative advertising. In addition, Dermalogica will donate up to USD15,000 to NAMI and continue supporting mental illness research and resources.
