Movie geeks and comic book fans are saddened to hear that the DC Extended Universe is coming to an end.

Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara recently spoke to Los Angeles Times, where he discussed about the future of the DC Extended Universe as a whole. After many failed attempts, DC will finally moved on from creating interconnected superhero movies. Instead, they will shift the focus on standalone films.
“The upcoming slate, with ‘Shazam’, ‘Joker’, ‘Wonder Woman 1984’, and ‘Birds of Prey’, feels like we’re on the right track. We have the right people in the right jobs working on it. The universe isn’t as connected as we thought it was going to be five years ago,” the 54-year-old Japanese American told the publication.
DC failed to hit a home run with “Justice League” and “Batman vs Superman”. However, “Wonder Woman” and the recent “Aquaman” standalone films fared exceptionally at the box office and with critics alike.
“You’re seeing much more focus on individual experiences around individual characters,” said Tsujihara. “That’s not to say we won’t at some point come back to that notion of a more connected universe. But it feels like that’s the right strategy for us right now.”
