The year 2024 is promising to be a love-filled one for Taiwanese actor David Chao (赵正平) as he prepares for his second marriage to his fiancé, 22 years younger than him. But, in spite of his declaration to marry her this year, he has yet to officially tie the knot.
It’s understandable as planning for another marriage isn’t easy, even if you have done it before. Despite admitting that they have a few more details to iron out, David Chao is clear on one thing. The 55-year-old star isn’t planning on having a wedding.
“With such a big age difference, (marriage) gives us a needed sense of security,” David told the United Daily News (联合报). He also shared that he had already proposed and they were intending to register the marriage sometime at the beginning of 2024, but had no plans to entertain guests.
But, they did have plans for a wedding photoshoot, which delighted David. “This is a first for me,” he said. The actor had once shared that both he and his fiancé had already agreed on making “marriage a priority” even before they started dating. David also added that they hadn’t decided on a time for it. “Anytime is fine,” he said.
As for how he got along with his girlfriend, David claimed it had been a learning curve. “Girls just want to be loved and coaxed. (You’ll need to) say sorry a few times, and not (fuss) about their mistakes.” Allegedly, David had once made his girlfriend cry when he failed to control his tone and temper. After that, David would apparently apologise first each time after an argument.
David Chao divorced his wife of six years in 2021, before falling for a flight attendant, 22 years his junior in 2022. By 2023, the two shared a stable relationship with each other and had agreed to get married.
Well, it certainly sounds like David and his fiance are at least certain about what they want in life. We wish the couple a happy marriage and look forward to them officially tying the knot soon!
