There are those in the world who have no idea who their birth parents are. Some would go to extra lengths to find their origin story and their bloodline. There are also those who choose to leave the past behind as they’re already happy with their lives and the people they grew up with.

It’s also normal to wonder who your birth parents might be but imagine if you were a child of a Pontianak, a vengeful spirit taking the form of a beautiful woman to lure its victim (mainly men) and eats their organs, according to Malaysian and Indonesian folklore. Sounds too preposterous to be true but this girl is going viral for allegedly being the child of a Pontianak:

A young Indonesian girl going by the name of Tiara Kartika became the talk of netizens after she was featured in several videos by YouTuber Karol Inoviani, who is supposedly a spiritualist medium. According to one of the videos, Tiara was just a baby when she was found by an elderly woman in the middle of a forest. The woman known as Nenek Nur took her home and raised her but strange things have been happening since that day.

Being abandoned in the middle of a forest was not necessarily why she was called the child of Pontianak. In one of the videos, the 11-year-old shared that she was bullied by other students at school who gave her that nickname after seeing her being possessed, talking to herself, and “playing with her hair” similar to how a Pontianak would.

Koral insisted that the child is human but special and by special, she means that Tiara has a ‘guardian’ looking after her other than Nenek Nur. The guardian, who they refer to as Tiara’s “adoptive mother” is said to resemble a Pontianak according to the Indonesian YouTuber. In one recent video, the girl revealed that her “mother” no longer visits her at night but she does dream of her from time to time, adding that her “mother” would sometimes cry from missing her.

Most comments by netizens have been extremely supportive of Tiara, praying that she would one day grow up to be a wonderful woman and that she would achieve her dreams as any other human would although a few have remained doubtful of the videos’ authenticity.

But whether or not you believe in spirits or anything superstitious, we hope that Tiara will have a normal and happy childhood.
