Dakota Johnson may be used to baring it all onscreen, but the experience can still be pretty terrifying.
In speaking with Allure magazine (The “New Naked” Issue), the 28-year-old actress revealed how working on the “Fifty Shades” franchise has taught her what it means to be an actress and a woman. The American beauty will once again reprise her role as Anastasia Steele in the upcoming “Fifty Shades Freed“.
“Throughout this entire experience, I’ve learned that I can expose my heart and my emotions and I can still protect myself. I can still be vulnerable and strong. It’s a constant ebb and flow and a battle and trying to figure out how to have those things coexist within me. That’s what I’m grateful for,” Johnson told the publication.
Despite the confidence that is regularly displayed when the Californian actress has nude scenes with co-star Jamie Dornan, she admitted, “Fundamentally, I’m open and warm. At my core, I’m a bleeding heart. But when your life is exposed and when the movie that exposes your life is exposing your emotions and your body, it can be very scary“.
Although E. L. James’ novels have been met with criticism in regards to the portrayal of an abusive relationship, Johnson wasn’t intimidated by the project. “I don’t know how to explain it in a way that doesn’t sound hokey, but when I’m on a project, I’m on it for a certain reason, and I’m involved with the people for a reason,” said the A-lister.
She continued, “It’s always some sort of weird marriage to something that’s happening in my life, or the character has some connection to something that’s going on (in my life).”
In other news, Johnson and her rumoured boyfriend Chris Martin continue to make headlines as they were spotted enjoying each other’s company by a beach. The couple was photographed strolling by the seaside in Malibu.
Johnson and the Coldplay lead singer were seen in public together for the first time at Soho House recently.
