Customer Recalls Switching Place With His E-Hailing Driver During Scary Encounter

Other than Grab or AirAsia Ride, people have also been opting for inDriver to travel around town. However, in September 2022, the headquarters was raided by authorities after it was found that they were operating with an expired license. Despite that, the e-hailing service has somehow remained operational.

If operating with an expired license wasn’t convincing enough to avoid using the service, this customer’s unfortunate experience with their driver should make anyone reconsider downloading the app. Here’s what happened:

SOURCE: TWITTER

Over the weekend, Twitter user @mhmd__amrll or Amirul shared his terrifying experience with an inDriver driver. According to the customer, things got off on a rocky start with the driver being rude to him upon arrival at the wrong location. Not wanting to argue, the customer walked over to where the driver had parked his car. The e-hailing driver suddenly whipped out his stethoscope and reassured the netizen not to fear him as he is a doctor.

If that wasn’t strange enough, the Twitter user claimed that the driver was speeding and almost hit 3 cars on the road. Things got even weirder when the driver started whaling and screaming “Mummy!” after asking his customer if he had a driving license. The customer, who started to fear for his life, offered to drive the car instead while the driver calm himself down.

“As I was driving the car, I started to fear that he might murder me or something. I then realised he was sleeping at the back,” the inDriver user wrote. Once they arrived at the destination, Amirul paid the driver RM20 instead of RM35 after the horrible experience but the driver had the audacity to request RM50. The driver also apparently tried to invite the customer’s female friend, who was there to pick him up, into his car.

The post went viral and has reached nearly 800k views, 4.3k retweets, 440 quotes, and 4.7k likes at the time of writing. Netizens reacted to the post with many of them showing concern for the victim and suspecting that the driver was not mentally stable. As seen in the screenshots above, the official inDrive Twitter account from the US also responded to the unsatisfied customer.

“We’re so sorry that you have to experience this. This type of behavior is not accepted in inDrive. Please send us a DM with the details. We will thoroughly investigate the case and take appropriate action,” they wrote. Thankfully, Amirul was left unharmed and shared that he was only informed about inDriver’s illegal status after netizens pointed it out to him. Perhaps, the authorities might want to look into this.
