Yesterday (Wednesday, 25th March), the Ministry of Health (MoH) issued a statement to deny several false news that recently went viral.

In a news report by The Star, JP Morgan believes that Malaysia has only entered the “acceleration phase” of Covid-19 infections. The country may face its peak by mid-April. With so much on-going uncertainty, there’s bound to fake claims online.

Source: NST

In the statement, MoH denies the following:

1. PDRM debunks:

  • RM300 fine if you’re caught with more than 1 passenger in a vehicle
  • RM200 fine if you fail to where face mask

2. PDRM denies that 4 Indian-men infected with coronavirus fled from Hospital Kepala Batas, Pulau Pinang.

3. Although there has been Covid-19 cases in Hospital Dungun, the quarantine order does not involve all the staffs.

4. The health ministry denies that a loss of appetite and sense of smell are among the new Covid-19 symptoms discovered.

5. The Selangor Menteri Besar’s office denies that the Sungai Lui, Sungai Ramal Dalam, Sungai Merab and Jalan Kebun areas have been included in Covid-19 hotspots.

6. The Covid-19 checklist for symptoms is fake.

7. Claims that Batu Pahat has entered the Covid-19 red zone is also not true. So far the only confirmed red zones are Lembah Pantai, Petaling, Hulu Langat, Seremban, Johor Bahru, Gombak, Titiwangsa, Kota Bharu.

13. Batu Pahat (28)
14. Klang (28)
15. Kuala Muda (27)
16. Seberang Perai Tengah (22).
