Yesterday (Wednesday, 25th March), the Ministry of Health (MoH) issued a statement to deny several false news that recently went viral.

In a news report by The Star, JP Morgan believes that Malaysia has only entered the “acceleration phase” of Covid-19 infections. The country may face its peak by mid-April. With so much on-going uncertainty, there’s bound to fake claims online.

In the statement, MoH denies the following:

1. PDRM debunks:

  • RM300 fine if you’re caught with more than 1 passenger in a vehicle
  • RM200 fine if you fail to where face mask

2. PDRM denies that 4 Indian-men infected with coronavirus fled from Hospital Kepala Batas, Pulau Pinang.

3. Although there has been Covid-19 cases in Hospital Dungun, the quarantine order does not involve all the staffs.

4. The health ministry denies that a loss of appetite and sense of smell are among the new Covid-19 symptoms discovered.

5. The Selangor Menteri Besar’s office denies that the Sungai Lui, Sungai Ramal Dalam, Sungai Merab and Jalan Kebun areas have been included in Covid-19 hotspots.
