9 seconds – that’s how fast it takes Denzel Washington, or more accurately his character Robert McCall to assassinate a group of bad guys. The ex-government assassin’s search for peace has led him to Italy. Unfortunately, his peace is obstructed by a long road of violence.
“The Equalizer 3” is a follow-up to the first two instalments, and will act as the final movie for this trilogy. Similar to the previous films, this action movie doesn’t alter the formula too much and focuses on Robert taking down the Italian mafia.
In speaking to Empire, Denzel Washington talks about how “The Equalizer 3” is a fitting farewell to the action franchise. “I don’t want to say he’s found happiness, and I don’t want to give it all away, but he meets someone lovely, he’s in a lovely town and he seems to be at peace. That seems to be a good place to stop,” the Oscar-winning actor said.
Director Antoine Fuqua also echoed his sentiment, saying, “This is it. Robert McCall, the working-man hero, at some point he’s got to walk away from it. At some point someone else has to pick up the ball and serve justice. He’s served his justice. He’s in a foreign place, he’s trying to find a home, find a place in the world. That’s really what’s important.”
