Concert Review: WOLF(S) Had Malaysian Fans Cheering & In Tears During Their Memorable Concert

by Hype Desk
July 17, 2023

For the first time ever, Taiwanese group WOLF(S) (五堅情) arrived on our shores and gifted us an epic night like none other. Having had the chance to experience this first-hand at Mega Star Arena KL over the weekend, we had a wonderful time with fellow Malaysian fans.

While it may be the group’s first time in Malaysia, the members, Nine Chen (陳零九), Kenny Khoo (邱鋒澤), Wayne Huang Weijin (黃偉晉), Lai (賴晏駒) and SHOU (婁峻碩), left everything on the stage and even expressed how our country felt like their second home. Of course, local fans replied their passion with equal enthusiasm, scoring both parties a night to remember. Here’s what went down:

The lights went out and the group ascended onto the stage; cheers erupted as the concert officially kick started with “Moon Landing (月面着陆)”. When dancers emerge onto the stage for their second song, “Modern Love (速食愛情)”, fans were given a sneak peak of the energetic performance that would carry on throughout the night. We sat at the edge of our seats, knowing that we were in for a treat!

The entire night was filled with a combination of excitement and heartwarming moments. Although WOLF(S) has released many songs as a group, they are also one of the few groups in which each individual has developed their solo careers too. Each member of the group took the stage one after another, showcasing the different dynamics of their musicality. Witnessing the various sides presented by the members were truly eye-opening!

The first to blow us away with a soothing performance was Nine. With the song, “Miss You? (不想你了)”, we swayed our head while taking in the deep meaning of the lyrics. The switch up was real after! Lai came onto the stage in a stunning outfit (which he later revealed to be custom-made just for this concert) and brought us a powerful show with three of his heated songs, “Boy Toy”, “Pxxsy Gun (娘娘槍) and “Not My Business (乾我什麼事)”. Lai ended his session singing “Perfect Clown” with hopes to touch people’s heart and encourage them to be themselves in this tough world. Lai showed that he can be fierce and dance the house down, but also has a vulnerable side.

Following the first 2 solo acts, the venue was serenaded with Wayne’s unique voice as he took the stage singing “Still Alone (我還是一個人)” and “Unspoken (潛台詞)”. Some fans were even moved to tears as he appeared beneath a soft spotlight conveying a story through his voice. Aside of his muscular biceps, this sexy hunk also showed that he can captivate the whole venue with his soothing vocals.

After the lights dimmed as Wayne ended his second song beautifully, WOLF(S) appeared on stage one by one and seated themselves at the edge. Audiences pulled out their phone and switch on their flashlights waving them gently, creating a sea of light as the members collectively sung “No Boundaries (零距离)”.

The main highlight of the concert was the series of songs lined up specially for Malaysia as it was WOLF(S)’s 3rd anniversary since their debut. Malaysian fans were honoured to be apart of their 3rd anniversary celebration. From 5 different songs performed by each members, it led up to Threee Production (3P) emerging onto the stage bringing out an electrifying show altogether. They performed “Oh My Mother” aka Wo De Ma Ya (我的妈呀) with WOLF(S) and later their catchy hit “Pa Sang Anthem” aka Klang (巴生 榮耀之歌)

After a short intermission, the last two members who have yet to have their time to shine individually took the stage respectively. SHOU displayed his rapping and rocker skills with “We Know” and “Abyss (深淵)”, and got the crowd singing along to “Colourful”. WOLF(S)’s leader, Kenny, was the last individual to stand on the stage and when he did, Malaysian fans shrieked (the loudest) in respond. He hyped the stage up with his newly released song, “Find Me (會找到我)”. The thrill did not subside as he was joined by Lai to bring “Never Enough (邊緣人格)”, and finished up his part with one of their classics, “Werewolves (天黑請閉眼)”. We were impressed by not just how versatile he is, but also his lovable charm.

Following that, all members made an appearance onto the stage. They sung “Be A Liar” while sparks and confetti showered them, marking the end of their time spent with Malaysian fans. However, let’s not forget their epic encore. The down-to-earth Taiwanese group roamed among the audience, making fans’ heart melt as they were able to see them up close and personal.

Subsequently, they invited their second special guest onto the stage, and you could never guess who or what it was. From below, an adorable cake with an astronaut sitting on a moon joined them on stage. It was to celebrate their 3rd anniversary, and they did it with Malaysian fans. Last but not least, each members shared their thoughts about their third year together as a group. Most of them shed tears as they reflected on how far they have come. “Thank you everyone for giving us this stage,” Nine said.

We’re sure that if there was a rewind button in life, many WOLF(S) fans would give everything they could to live the night out again. It was truly one memorable night filled with laughter and tears. Happy 3rd anniversary WOLF(S)! Thank you so much for spending your anniversary with us! And like you promised, we look forward to your next visit back here again!
