Renowned Tina Turner impersonator Rebecca O’Connor, who was personally applauded by Tina Turner herself with the words, “Rebecca is so good, it’s scary! If I had her energy, I would still be touring today,” recently lit up the Kuala Lumpur stage with an electrifying celebration of the late Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll’s music. Rebecca, the only Irish artist to win the prestigious European TV show “Stars in Their Eyes”, captivated audiences with her vibrant performance at Zepp KL over three unforgettable nights from 11th – 13th July.

The concert kicked off with a high-energy opening act by local artist Kayda Aziz, setting the perfect tone for the evening. As the show commenced, two local dancers in bedazzled flapper dresses dazzled the crowd with a flirtatious routine, soon joined by two orchestra players, marking the start of a spectacular night. The incorporation of local talent in both dance and music underscored Rebecca’s appreciation for the community, showcasing her down-to-earth nature and commitment to giving local performers their moment in the spotlight.

The Tina Tuner impersonator’s performance was nothing short of mesmerising. She opened with “What You Get Is What You See,” instantly captivating the audience with her uncanny resemblance to Tina Turner’s voice, tone, and stage presence. Her setlist included classic hits like “Nutbush City Limits,” “Proud Mary,” “River Deep,” “Private Dancer,” “When the Heartache Is Over,” and the show-stopping “Simply the Best,” which had the entire crowd on their feet, dancing and singing along.

Adding to the excitement were solo performances by her electrifying guitarist Robbie Stock and a breathtaking saxophone solo by a talented local musician, whose incredible skills even surprised Rebecca herself. Between songs, the “Stars in Their Eyes” winner shared her deep affection for Malaysia, expressing her love for the food, culture, and people, even exclaiming, “I want to move here!”

Rebecca O’Connor’s show was a vibrant tribute to Tina Turner’s legacy, filled with energy, passion, and an authentic portrayal of the iconic artist. The concert ended on a high note with “Simply the Best,” leaving the audience thoroughly satisfied and yearning for more. Backstage, Rebecca expressed her admiration for the warm hospitality in Malaysia, saying, “I find Malaysian people so friendly and so welcoming. I love how everyone is so into their culture. I could live here!”

Rebecca delivered an enticing and electrifying performance, celebrating Tina Turner’s greatest hits and leaving fans eagerly anticipating her return. Her shows at Zepp KL will be remembered as a fitting tribute to the legendary Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
