As the release of “Venom: The Last Dance” approaches, Marvel fans are eagerly counting down the days until the third film in Sony’s antihero series hits cinemas on 24th October 2024. With speculation that this could be Tom Hardy’s final appearance as Eddie Brock, the franchise has already generated major buzz even before its release.

While fans await the highly anticipated release, one Malaysian artist, Arif Rafhan, took the excitement to a new level by creating stunning batik illustrations inspired by the movie. The impressive artworks are a collaboration with Sony Pictures and has since left local netizens captivated. Here’s a look of the designs:

Through Sony Pictures’ official Facebook account, they shared Arif’s batik designs, which feature the iconic symbiote character with a vibrant twist, incorporating Malaysian elements such as the national flower, hibiscus. Sony Pictures described the artwork as “a true fusion of Malaysian culture and the world of Venom,” crafted to perfection. In addition to the symbiote, Arif also created an artwork showcasing Eddie Brock, who is the main character in the movie played by Tom Hardy.

Netizens were in awe of the intricate details and creativity behind the designs, while many expressed pride in seeing local culture represented on the international stage. As expected, some users reignited the familiar debate over Batik’s origins, sparking playful bickering between Malaysia and its neighbouring country.
