Annual leave or paid leave is a rare and precious commodity for working adults. After all, it’s the only way we get to have days off! Most of the time, we tend to hoard our leave as we don’t get too much of it. Well, this lucky man not only won his paid leave, he got a whole year’s worth of it!

A firm in China recently held their annual dinner to reward their employees for their hard work. As it turns out, one man won the grand prize of a lucky draw. To the surprise of many, the prize was a year’s worth of paid leave!

The video of the incident showing the lucky employee with his award went viral. The man could be seen with a woman and kids, presumably his family, holding a large cheque declaring he had a year’s worth of paid leave. The clip caught the man taking a seat while looking very pleased. A voice in the video could be heard explaining that the man had repeatedly attempted to clarify if the prize was real.

According to another employee, Ms. Chen, who worked in the administrative department, this was the company’s first annual meeting in three years. As such, they had planned to have a big surprise for their employees during the lucky draw; a grand prize of a year’s paid leave.

The boss was reportedly surprised when the male employee, who reportedly holds a managerial position, won the prize. He hadn’t thought an employee would win. However, according to Ms. Chen, the employee could either decide to take the vacation or cash it in.

Netizens have been envious of the man, with several asking if there was a vacancy at the firm. However, others were of the opinion that a year’s worth of leave was not as good as it seems. “If you take the annual leave, you might not (have a place) to come back to!” one observed.

Well, there are pros and cons to everything we suppose. However, whatever the man chooses, we wish him well! Hopefully he manages to settle on an option that benefits and pleases him.
