Chinese actor Dylan Wang (王鹤棣) has become a household name in the country thanks to his many drama appearances and good looks. However, rumours are circulating that the actor recently broke up with a long-time girlfriend and had to pay a hefty “break-up fee”.
Recently, a notorious Chinese internet personality named Wang Dafa (transliteration from 王大发) claimed that Dylan had broken up with his non-celebrity girlfriend. The pair had long been rumoured to be dating, with some news outlets reporting the couple had been together for more than five years. However, the 26-year-old has never confirmed or denied the relationship.
Nevertheless, Wang Dafa claimed the actor and his partner have officially called it quits. In addition, the media personality alleged that Dylan paid a “break-up fee” to his ex-girlfriend, perhaps to avoid any issues of her exposing details about their relationship. “Break-up fees” are common among Chinese celebrity couples because many see it as monetary compensation for the time spent during the relationship or an agreement not to disclose private information.
According to Wang Dafa, the supposed “break-up fee” was a hefty sum, given the number of years the couple were together. They claimed the money was “enough to buy half of Xiao Zhan’s (肖战) house”. Chinese actor Xiao Zhan reportedly lives in a 37-million-yuan villa, so many interpreted the statement as Dylan’s ex-girlfriend receiving millions. However, it’s worth noting that Wang Dafa shared no evidence to back these claims.
Many netizens have reacted to Wang Dafa’s claims, showing mixed reactions to the rumours. Some voiced skepticism towards the allegations since there is no solid evidence. On the other hand, others were amused that Wang Dafa used Xiao Zhan’s house as a quantifier in this matter. Some also defended Dylan’s ex-girlfriend, arguing that netizens shouldn’t spread rumours about her for the sake of views.
