For some of us, going overseas is either for work or play. However, regardless of its purpose, there’s no harm in enjoying ourselves during an overseas trip. Well, that’s certainly what Hong Kong actor Chapman To (杜汶泽) did!
Chapman To and his wife, Kristal Tin (田明慧/田蕊妮) recently came to Malaysia. Although Chapman had his reasons for the visit, he still managed to squeeze some time in for leisure which included attending Blackpink concert on Saturday (4th March)! Unfortunately, his trip was slightly marred by a near-altercation with someone.
The Hong Kong actor’s stay here regrettably wasn’t for long. Apparently, he’d only been here for three days and two nights. Nonetheless, he certainly made the most of it! Chapman kept his followers updated about his activities via his socials.
Chapman had apparently visited a tomb, met with friends and ate plenty of Malaysian dishes. Needless to say, he had quite a good time. From his photos, Chapman had apparently met with Malaysian director Roger Cheng (郑建国), and Datuk Lee Chong Wei! He also got to eat his favourite dish, Choy Sum which he misses the most after moving from Hong Kong to Taiwan.
Of course, the best part was when he attended Blackpink’s concert at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium. From their socials, it seems like both Chapman and Kristal are avid fans of rapper Lisa. The two reportedly recorded a lot of videos showing her during the concert!
But, Chapman’s trip wasn’t all smooth. The actor shared that someone had tried to pick a fight with him while here in Kuala Lumpur. Apparently, Chapman had been politely chatting with a saleswoman in a local shop when he asked after their business. The saleswoman reportedly claimed they were getting more tourists, and with China reopening its borders, they believed things would be better in the future.
“I kindly (added) that Chinese tourists were better than Hong Kong-ers because they had more money,” Chapman explained. “She nodded in agreement, then another salesperson asked me, “Isn’t Hong Kong in China!?” I responded: “Of course, sorry. I made a mistake”.” Satisfied, the salesperson then left the conversation.
Chapman later shared he had his reasons for not arguing the point. “The point is, (now), for me, as long as (hateful) people stay away from me, this will be a great achievement in my life,” he stated. He added that he would rather enjoy life than stew in anger.
Thankfully, this has not turned Chapman away from Malaysia. “I still love this place because there are good people, good friends and most importantly, Choy Sum,” he said. Although his trip was short, Chapman claims he will visit again as soon as he can. We’ll certainly be waiting for that next visit!
