As Merdeka Day draws near, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and Intermark Mall invite you to celebrate with them in style and with pride! Join them in embracing the spirit of unity and multiculturalism with a range of vibrant activities, exclusive shopping deals, and a delicious food journey that highlights the best of Malaysia.

Pavilion KL and Intermark Mall have put together a comprehensive guide to help you experience the heart and soul of Merdeka. From special promotions to festive events, the shopping malls will make this Merdeka season unforgettable for you and your loved ones.

Learn

Dive Into History At Intermark Mall

Intermark Mall has put together a campaign that pays homage to the rich history of our beloved Kuala Lumpur. The campaign, aptly titled  ‘A Journey Through Time’ underscores their overarching ‘Hail Heritage’ initiative, inviting shoppers to explore the city’s transformation from its early days to the present.

Throughout the campaign, shoppers can experience the city’s history through exhibitions by the Kuala Lumpur Library and Sketchwalk Kuala Lumpur, as well as check out a miniature art display by the World Culture Organisation (WCO). You can also visit KWAP’s MyPesara Bazaar from 19th August to 1st September, a treasure trove of handcrafted souvenirs from over 50 local craftspeople.

Meanwhile, true art enthusiasts can register for the ‘Sketching Through Time’ competition here, which will be held on 25th August, from 10am to 12pm. Lovers of classical music get to immerse themselves in performances by Deciso Conservatoire throughout this campaign, including a Saxophone Ensemble and a String Quartet on 17th August and 24th August respectively, from 12:30pm to 1pm.

Shoppers can also enjoy exciting rewards during this campaign period – spend RM100, RM500, and RM1,000 in a single receipt to redeem RM10 dining cash vouchers, RM50 Hanare cash vouchers, and RM100 Hanare cash vouchers respectively.

Indulge Your Sweet Tooth

Every meal in Malaysia leaves room for a little sweet treat. With both Pavilion KL and Intermark rolling out an indulgent celebration this Merdeka, you’ll be spoiled for choice! Start your day with Boost Juice’s exclusive ‘Lychee-Lah’ Merdeka flavours and pick up some of DUNKIN’s local drinks and donut flavours to sweeten the celebration.

For a truly decadent treat, explore Beryl’s, a Malaysian brand known for their chocolatey, irresistible offerings, including their Merdeka celebratory sets. And don’t sleep on Bean Jr.’s innovative fusion of tau fu fah and durian. Each treat tells a story of local flavour and heritage, making your Merdeka celebration both sweet and memorable.

If you’d love to celebrate Merdeka with a slice of cake, visit a local artisan bakery, Huckleberry Petit – a haven for coffee lovers and dessert enthusiasts with an array of pastries and sweet treats. Their pandan gula Melaka cake will surely hit the spot!

Redefined Malaysian Flavours

If you’re craving something quick and filling, Rollti is the perfect stop, where the beloved roti canai gets a makeover. Try the ‘Chicken Sambal Meletop’ – a familiar, flavourful twist wrapped in a fluffy yet crispy roti canai. For tea time, Tea & Yeast has crafted the ‘Nasi Lemak Danish,’ combining the comfort of pastries with the bold flavours of a Malaysian classic.

Even popcorn gets a local flair at myEureka, where they’ve turned nasi lemak into a crunchy, savoury kernel of indulgence. More than just snacks, these treats represent the true Malaysian culinary spirit, infused with creativity and innovation.

San Francisco Coffee offers their limited-time, Merdeka-exclusive ‘Malaysia Brew-leh’ line – introducing a Malaysian twist to their classic drinks and desserts, like teh tarik frappe and apam balik cake. Be sure to grab your treats from now until 31st October!

Hearty Meals With Special Local Flavours

After a day of exploring and indulging, nothing beats a hearty meal to wrap it all up. The Chicken Rice Shop tempts you with their Merdeka special, ‘Ayam Se-HEART-i Sejiwa’ – a succulent grilled chicken perfectly paired with a spicy sambal, promising to satisfy your cravings with every bite.

For those who love a fusion of flavours, Dolly Dimsum presents their ‘Sambal Petai Prawn Dumplings,’ blending the familiar dim sum with the bold taste of traditional sambal. And In Colonial presents four generous meals for RM30 to RM35 each, including the beloved fried kuey teow, with drinks included. It’s the perfect way to end your day, with each dish celebrating Malaysians’ love for food.
