Malaysian hip-hop icon, singer, and songwriter Cat Farish returns with a bold new persona—Si Penghulu. Under this alter ego, he unveils his latest single “Jandanyer Yeah Yeah”, a vibrant blend of hip hop, afrobeat, and the linguistic charm of Perak culture.
Co-written by Cat Farish and Illegal, the track was recorded at Platinum Studio, Damansara Perdana, and released under Luncai Emas Sdn Bhd, which also holds the publishing and copyright for both the song and lyrics.
A Song for Every Woman Who Rises Again
“Jandanyer Yeah Yeah” is more than just a catchy tune; it’s a celebration of women who rise stronger after heartbreak. With his trademark wit and swagger, Si Penghulu spins a story about divorced women (janda) reclaiming their confidence and power.
“This song is for all the women out there who bounced back after being left behind—who glow up, move forward, and make their exes regret it,” says Cat Farish.
The Persona of Si Penghulu – Hip Hop with a Local Soul
The character Si Penghulu was born during Cat Farish’s collaboration on the song “Ok” produced by Malique. Since then, he’s developed it into a creative vessel for expressing hip hop through a uniquely Malaysian lens: blending witty Perak slang, kampung storytelling, and urban rhythm.
Through Si Penghulu, Cat Farish channels the voice of the people; grounded, funny, and authentic. The project also carries personal meaning, as his wife, Shikin Maembong, played a key role in inspiring and supporting the creative journey behind the single.
A Two-Year Journey to the Perfect Groove
Although the recording wrapped recently, the concept and lyrics for “Jandanyer Yeah Yeah” have been in development for over two years. “The song was ready long ago. It just took time for the lyrics and delivery to hit the right tone,” Cat Farish explains.
With this release, Si Penghulu emerges as the hip-hop voice of Kampung Sri Kintadi, under the banner of Luncai Emas, setting a new path for “urban folk”—a genre that bridges traditional culture with modern rhythm.

Stream “Jandanyer Yeah Yeah” now on Spotify, Apple Music, and Youtube, and experience Cat Farish’s alter ego, Si Penghulu, in full rhythm and spirit.
