Castrol Malaysia has launched eHailing Heroes, a 12-month programme developed with the support of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC) and Persatuan Pengguna Pengangkutan Awam Malaysia (4PAM) to help e-hailing drivers manage vehicle maintenance costs while supporting smoother and more reliable passenger journeys during Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026).

The programme was announced at a press conference held at Rom 8 Studio and officiated by Yang Berusaha Encik Mohd Akbal Setia, Senior Director of Advertising and Digital, Tourism Malaysia, and Head of Secretariat for Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

Under its first phase, eHailing Heroes will support up to 3,000 e-hailing vehicles, beginning with drivers in the Klang Valley, through subsidised Castrol MAGNATEC servicing, vehicle branding and access to Castrol Auto Service workshops nationwide. Participating drivers who complete 8,000 kilometres of verified mileage will unlock an RM80 Castrol MAGNATEC service package e-voucher, which includes engine oil, oil filter and labour, redeemable at participating Castrol Auto Service.

The launch comes as Malaysia mobilises its wider tourism ecosystem for VM2026. While destinations, hotels and attractions are often central to the tourism conversation, e-hailing drivers play an increasingly visible role in the visitor journey, connecting travellers to airports, hotels, city centres, food destinations, shopping districts, heritage areas and local communities.

Yang Berusaha Encik Mohd Akbal Setia, Senior Director of Advertising and Digital, Tourism Malaysia, and Head of Secretariat for Visit Malaysia Year 2026, said: “Every day, eHailing drivers connect visitors to destinations, to culture, and to the warmth of the Malaysian people. A comfortable, safe and friendly travel experience directly contributes to how visitors perceive our country, and that perception shapes the success of Visit Malaysia 2026. So, when we invest in the welfare and capability of these drivers, we are investing in the image and future of Malaysian tourism, and a core part of preparing Malaysia for Visit Malaysia 2026. A strong visitor welcome starts with supporting the people who make that welcome happen.”

For Castrol, eHailing Heroes turns vehicle care into a practical form of livelihood support. E-hailing vehicles operate through long hours, high daily mileage, repeated short trips, traffic congestion, frequent idling and stop-start driving condition, making consistent maintenance an economic necessity for drivers who depend on their vehicles to earn.

Castrol MAGNATEC was selected for the programme because it is specifically engineered for today’s urban driving environment, where engines repeatedly stop, wait and start again. Castrol MAGNATEC’s intelligent molecules cling to critical engine parts and lock together to form a protective force field, helping to provide 50% better protection against warm-up and restart wear*. For e-hailing drivers who operate through congestion, frequent idling, repeated short trips and high daily mileage, this supports Castrol MAGNATEC’s core promise of Non-Stop Protection From Every Start.

Gan Wee Kiong, Market Sales Director, Castrol Malaysia, Singapore and Philippines, said: “For e-hailing drivers, a vehicle is more than transport. It is their workplace, their income source and the platform that allows them to serve passengers every day. That is why the product fit matters. Castrol MAGNATEC is built around Non-Stop Protection From Every Start, which speaks directly to the stop-start reality of e-hailing: long hours, repeated pick-ups and drop-offs, congestion, idling and high mileage. Through eHailing Heroes, we are using our product technology and service network to help drivers reduce maintenance pressure, keep their vehicles road-ready and continue earning with greater confidence.”

Ajit Johl, President of Persatuan Pengguna Pengangkutan Awam Malaysia (4PAM), said: “Passenger confidence depends on safety, reliability, service quality and the condition of the vehicles people use every day. E-hailing is now part of the wider transport experience for Malaysians and visitors, which means driver welfare and vehicle readiness should not be treated separately. When drivers are supported with maintenance access and lower operating pressure, passengers also benefit through smoother and dependable journeys.”

By combining subsidised servicing, nationwide workshop access and an engine oil formulated specifically for stop-start driving, eHailing Heroes positions vehicle readiness as part of a stronger passenger journey while helping drivers manage the everyday costs of staying on the road.

To further support this effort, Castrol will also be extending a 10% discount across its passenger car engine oil range from August onwards, as a small way to help more vehicle owners keep their cars in good shape for the journeys ahead.

Participating drivers who complete 8,000 kilometres of verified mileage will also unlock a service package e-voucher. For just RM80, drivers will receive a complete service package including Castrol MAGNATEC engine oil, oil filter and labour, a package valued at approximately RM350. Redemption is available at participating Castrol Auto Service workshops nationwide.

Through eHailing Heroes, Castrol aims to extend its role in Malaysia’s everyday mobility ecosystem by supporting road confidence, vehicle readiness and driver livelihoods. By helping high-mileage drivers manage servicing costs and keep their vehicles road-ready, the programme contributes to more reliable journeys for passengers while supporting the people who keep Malaysia’s cities, communities and local economies moving.
