CapsuleTransit MAX Review: A Comforting Rest For Travelers Between Flights

by Justin
November 3, 2024

An early morning flight, an overnight layover, or a last-minute delay – you’ve likely encountered one or all of these situations. Whether due to bad luck or poor planning, sometimes the unpredictable happens. Instead of scrambling to find a last-minute room or arrange transportation, booking an airport hotel might be the solution to your problems.

Located within Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 (KLIA2), CapsuleTransit MAX (short for Malaysia’s Authentic eXperience) is a premium boutique hotel featuring 46 premium beds, a lounge, a spa, and a fully equipped gym. If you’re seeking convenience, location, and practicality, rest assured that CapsuleTransit MAX delivers on all fronts.

Since its debut in 2014, CapsuleTransit has expanded its presence to a few locations. In case you weren’t aware, CapsuleTransit has 1 outlet in KLIA1 and another 3 outlets in KLIA2 – including the recently launched MAX – consisting of standard capsules and executive rooms. Here’s the breakdown:

KLIA1

  • Sleep Lounge (24 beds) – Departure Hall, Level 5

KLIA2

  • Airside (70 beds) – International Departure Hall, Level 2 (towards Gate Q)
  • Landside (79 beds) – gateway@klia2, Level 1
  • MAX (46 beds) – gateway@klia2, Level 2M

One of CapsuleTransit’s strongest selling points is its flexibility. Open 24/7, travellers can check in at any time to accommodate varying schedules. Whether late at night or early in the morning, guests can book rooms for short stays (1, 3, 6, or 12 hours) or for overnight stays. This flexibility is designed to cater to both transit passengers with limited layover times and those in need of more extended accommodation.

The Runway Suite is undoubtedly the most luxurious feature at this establishment. The room boasts views of the airport runway, offering guests a unique perspective that is rarely found in transit hotels. The suite is part of the hotel’s mission to combine comfort, convenience, and luxury. In addition to the view, it includes modern amenities to ensure guests enjoy a premium stay that blends relaxation with a touch of excitement.

There is only one king-size bed, but the space can supposedly accommodate up to four adults. A bar island with a mini fridge offers complimentary drinks. We love how the blue built-in strip lights in the wardrobe look futuristic, giving the room an edgy style. This feature not only complements the exterior décor but also fits seamlessly with the overall MAX theme.

The bathroom area was an unexpected highlight. Bathrooms are typically compact, but not this one. It features a large tub with complimentary bath salts, dual sinks, and ample space to move about.

In the lounge, the hotel offers a variety of plant-based hot meals. The menu includes both Western and local dishes such as MAX Burger, Creamy Mushroom Pasta, Mushroom Melt Pizza, Nasi Lemak, Mee Siam and Roti Canai. Additionally, guests can enjoy a 24-hour buffet with options like cereal, toast, brownies, hot soup, yoghurt, fruit, salad, and coffee. For those seeking more variety, there is a food court below and plenty of restaurants nearby.

Is CapsuleTransit MAX worth considering? Ultimately, it depends on your budget. While many may not choose to spend over RM2000 per night on the Runway Suite, the more affordable options are certainly worth exploring.

MAX’s amenities and facilities are genuinely practical. Guests can opt for lounge services and take advantage of the small gym, which includes some strength training equipment, treadmill, stationary bike, and yoga mats. Travellers with lounge access can also enjoy a relaxing steam bath and a hot shower before their departure.
