Cap Off The Year With Moët & Chandon’s “Paris Wonderland” At Upper House KL!

by Features Desk
December 16, 2024

This holiday season, Moët & Chandon brings the magic of Paris to life in collaboration with Upper House KL, transforming the venue into the “House of Moët & Chandon” for a month-long celebration.

Designed to embody the elegance, sophistication, and festive charm synonymous with Moët & Chandon, this collaboration invites guests to toast to life’s extraordinary moments in style while unveiling the much-anticipated 2024 Holiday Edition.

A Parisian Wonderland At Upper House KL

For the entire month of December, Upper House KL is transformed into the “House of Moët & Chandon,” a Parisian dreamscape that brings the festive magic of the season to life. Every corner exudes Moët & Chandon’s ethos of celebration, joy, and togetherness, from dazzling décor to curated activities that captivate the senses.

At the heart of the “House of Moët & Chandon” stands a stunning Eiffel Tower centrepiece, set against the breathtaking Kuala Lumpur skyline. Constructed from over 200 Moët & Chandon bottles opened in Kuala Lumpur over the past few weeks, with each of them being a token of celebration, symbolising a toast raised, a milestone celebrated, and the joy of coming together with loved ones to create extraordinary moments.

“Moët & Chandon has always been synonymous with life’s most special moments – from weddings to reunions, triumphs to new beginnings. Here in Malaysia, we are honoured to have been part of so many cherished celebrations,” said Patrick Madendjian, Managing Director Moet Hennessy Diageo Malaysia and Singapore. “With this installation, we hope to invite guests to reflect on their treasured memories this year while looking ahead to creating new, extraordinary moments in 2025 and beyond.”

“At Upper House, we embrace the ethos of celebrating life’s finer moments and curating dining experiences that leave a lasting impression,” said Alex Cheah, Co-founder of The KARLS Group. “Partnering with Moët & Chandon, a brand renowned for its elegance and timeless celebrations, allows us to create a truly memorable festive season for our guests.”

Throughout the space, guests can explore gifting corners featuring the exclusive 2024 Holiday Edition, write holiday greetings at the bespoke postcard station, or discover delightful surprises at the interactive gachapon corner. Adding to the magic, the artistry of Margot Reverdy’s intricate designs further enhances the enchanting atmosphere, reflecting the Maison’s connection to nature and its rich heritage.

A standout feature of the collaboration is a specially curated menu by renowned Chef Raymond Tham, blending the warmth and elegance of a French Christmas with the rich, vibrant flavours of Malaysia. Seasonal ingredients such as kulim, yam, and cincalok are artfully paired with classic French culinary techniques to create a harmonious fusion of local produce and refined artistry. Thoughtfully crafted, each dish is designed to pair perfectly with Moët & Chandon champagnes, offering diners a festive culinary journey that embodies the magic and joy of the season.

The celebration at Upper House KL reaches new heights with a series of spectacular rooftop parties, including New Year’s Eve countdown celebrations. Guests can toast to life’s memorable moments under the stars, marking a grand finale to the year with vibrant energy and Moët & Chandon signature elegance.

The 2024 Holiday Edition: A Celebration Of Artistry & Legacy

Moët & Chandon’s 2024 Holiday Edition continues the Maison’s legacy of merging the grandeur of its viticultural heritage with innovative designs that beckon the joy of festivities. Since 1743, Moët & Chandon has cradled a precious treasure stemming from the Maison’s unique natural heritage: the sprawling vines that are at the source of each champagne creation.

This year’s Holiday Edition bottles and gift boxes, designed by French artist Margot Reverdy, feature golden grapes, trailing leaves, and organic motifs. Inspired by historical designs from 1985 and entwined with a contemporary reinterpretation, the intricate patterns vividly portray an array of textures that illustrate nature’s diversity of the Champagne vines and species protected through Natura Nostra, the Maison’s large-scale agroecology programme.

The special edition bottle transcends mere aesthetics; each creation is a sparkling tapestry incarnating the three grape varieties – Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier – that define the signature of Moët Brut Impérial style, known for its bright fruitiness, seductive palate, and elegant maturity.

Available in two exquisite varieties, Moët & Chandon Brut Impérial and Moët & Chandon Rosé Impérial, the Holiday Edition offers a sparkling canvas for celebration:

  • Moët & Chandon Brut Impérial, the signature champagne of the House, offers a well-balanced bouquet made from equal parts same-year and reserve wines from the two preceding years, translating into a blend of about 100 to 150 different wines in a champagne that truly bears the imprint of the Champagne region. Its dosage is limited to 7 grams per litre, for a light freshness in a measured balance between acidity and fruitiness that pairs harmoniously during the holidays with dishes like a roasted sea bass in a gingered cucumber broth, a fragrant Caesar salad, or a scallop carpaccio with a lightly peppered lime juice.
  • The bright and fruity Moët & Chandon Rosé Impérial combines about 45 percent Pinot Noir (of which 10 percent still red wine), 40 percent Meunier (of which 10 percent still red wine) and 15 percent Chardonnay, with a dosage limited to 9 grams per litre. Its delicate balance is achieved with a lesser share of Pinot Noir in favour of more Meunier, for more supple and rounded red wines. This Rosé Impérial is easy to pair, with its fruity and aromatic side, making it an interesting choice for pairing in a casual Mediterranean setting with well-ripened vegetables and dishes that are naturally flavourful and uncomplicated.
