Burberry Goddess Launch, SHEIN Pop-Up, Junji Ito Horror Preview & More: Events We Hit Up This Past Week!

Another week, another whirlwind of totally EXTRA events! We were here, there and everywhere!

We said ‘OMG-oddess’ at Burberry, went stargazing with Heineken, got spooked by Junji Ito and MUCH, MUCH MORE! We were on the scene, and vibing like a boss! Just check out our social diary for this past week (don’t be jelly!):

Junji Ito Horror House Exhibition Launch

We got an exclusive first look at the highly-anticipated Junji Ito Horror House exhibition at LaLaport BBCC! The immersive horror exhibition offers fans the chance to experience the stories of famed horror manga author Junji Ito – and we have to say, it gave us the creeps (but in a good way!).

We started the horror house journey with a quick brunch before a speech by Ken Chai, the managing director of Ad-nology Labs, followed by a photo op. Then, it was time to enter the halls of horror featuring Junji Ito’s iconic manga series and its main characters, Tomie and Shoichi. We also got to check out the exclusive art exhibit dedicated to Junji Ito’s “Uzumaki” and the exhibition gift shop where fans can grab official merchandise. If you’re a fan of Junji Ito and his work, you should definitely check out the Horror House at LaLaport BBCC.

Sunway Lagoon Nights Of Fright 9 

“This is Halloween! Pumpkin scream in the dead of night!” It’s the festival of fear that everyone has been waiting for all year! The highly-anticipated Nights of Fright is back at Sunway Lagoon and we got the chance to see everything it has to offer during the opening ceremony and media preview.

We had a lot of fun being scared to death by not only the ghouls and demons roaming around the park, but also the haunted houses that you can check out with your friends. Our personal recommendation? The Texas Chainsaw Massacre! Be careful, don’t get lost or you might end up joining the wandering spirits haunting Sunway Lagoon this Halloween season!

Burberry Goddess Launch

Burberry brought the gold to Pavilion KL with the launch event for their new Goddess perfume – and we were there to witness it all! The Goddess perfume features a trio blend of vanilla with notes of lavender to radiate confidence, strength and kindness. The campaign also features British-French actress Emma Mackey as the face of the fragrance and the ambassador for Burberry Beauty.

At the event, guests were decked out in gold, beige and white and mingled around as a string quartet played a few classical tunes. Besides checking out the new fragrance, we also experienced the exclusive ceramic perfume diffuser bracelet with the new Goddess perfume, and tried out other Burberry beauty products. Of course, photos are a must, so the event also prepared a photo booth for guests to got photographed with an exclusive Burberry Goddess backdrop.

SHEIN Pop-Up Event

SHEIN isn’t just a brand; it’s a fashion movement that believes style should have no boundaries. SHEIN Malaysia held its first pop-up event at MYTown Shopping Centre – where we were front and centre – showcasing a fashion wonderland that highlighted 4 main fashion themes – Party Styles, Office Styles, Activewear & Swimwear, as well as Summer & Street Styles. In celebration of fashion, diversity, and inclusivity, SHEIN presented various body shapes and sizes with the help of Malaysia’s top personalities (Ash Edward, Khainina Khalil, Isha Norsham, Ashley Chin and Ikhmal Nour) during the extraordinary Fashion Runway Show.

Renowned Malaysian personalities, influencers, and fashion icons gracing the event include Amelia Henderson, Scha Elinnea, Yaya Zahir, Sairiya Murugiah, Dior Yaw and Farrah Khairina, each adding their unique flair to the fashion extravaganza. Watch the dazzling fashion spectacle here:

Phantom & FAME Parfum By Rabanne Launch

We were on hand for the unveiling of the hottest couple in town, Phantom and FAME Parfum by Rabanne! With Charlie Heaton of ‘Stranger Things’ as the face of Phantom, the brand unveiled an attention-grabbing advertising video that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats, as they are taken on an exhilarating journey through the night in Paris. As for FAME, the face is none other than that of the adored Elle Fanning. 

The newly-launched IT couple’s pop-up booth is at Centre Court, Mid Valley Megamall. Enjoy a special discount when you make a purchase, with engraving services also provided.

Beauty Of Joseon Launch

Indulge in the beauty of tradition with Beauty of Joseon! The South Korean brand finally made its local debut at Watsons, with a grand launch at Three Years Old Cafe. Highlights of the event include graceful singing and dancing performances, where everyone was elegantly dressed in white and beige; hand massages with the brand’s Ginseng Essence Water and Pine Grove Body Cream; and handmade bouquets presented to all guests.

NORQAIN Wild One Watch Launch 

We attended the launch of the Wild ONE Hakuna Mipaka watch at Sincere Fine Watches, Suria KLCC. It’s the ultimate high-performance sports timepiece designed together with NORQAIN’s Global Ambassador and wildlife Activist, Dean Schneider.

Joined by Ben Küffer, Founder & CEO of NORQAIN, the evening was filled with guests having a good time and checking out the brand new watch. One of the coolest things about the timepiece is that every time someone posts anything related to the brand, specifically the new Hakuna Mipaka watch, RM10 will be contributed to the Dean Schneider Foundation to help wildlife.

Heineken Star Academy National Finals 2023

What would you do to be the best bartender in Malaysia? That’s something we witnessed when we visited Menara Ken at TTDI for Heineken’s Star Academy National Finals for 2023. From bumping music to smooth drinks, we all had the opportunity to relax and down the brewing company’s signature drinks.

However, the real stars (pun intended) of the show were the six contestants who gave it their all to represent their respective states and aim to become the number one in the country. Congrats to the winner!

Ericsson Imagine Live Malaysia 2023

A 5G world is closer than you think. That’s something that was showcased to us when we visited the St. Regis KL Grand Ballroom for the Ericsson Imagine Live event. From VR teachings to holograms and even automated farming, this Swedish telecommunications company isn’t afraid to show what we may be using in the coming years.

Aside from augmented reality content, Ericsson demonstrated how its 5G technology can improve cloud gaming. The company specifically highlighted the Quality on Demand (QoD) API on this front. They’ve also partnered up with Meta to enhance your gaming experience as well as your day-to-day life.

Bask Bear Coffee 100th Store Launch

If you’re looking for hearty sandwiches and smooth coffee, then why don’t you head over to Petronas Twin Towers and have a taste of Bask Bear’s signature toasties? What makes the Twin Towers branch so special? Well, we swung by there last Wednesday to witness the grand opening of their 100th physical store.

To celebrate the momentous occasion, we were able to try out their signature dishes and drinks. Totally delicious! But there’s more – they’re also inviting everyone to a five-day carnival from now to 1st October, 2023, with some “beary” special surprises in store!

Berjaya Times Square Hotel Anniversary

Happy 20th anniversary to Berjaya Times Square Hotel! Just last night (28th September), the venerated hotel turned twenty and held a Heartfelt Hospitality evening to celebrate. Kicked-off by a speech from Berjaya Hotels & Resorts Area General manager, Adrian Chung, the ceremony allowed guests to witness the customary cake cutting, and treated them to a lovely dinner and some fun games.
