When it comes to beauty, the common saying is “no pain, no gain”. Unfortunately, the pursuit of beauty via breast augmentation surgery cost 29-year-old Wei Shan (陈蔚杉) her life.
News of Wei Shan’s unexpected passing had devastated those who knew her as last they knew, she had been perfectly healthy. Unfortunately, it turns out that Wei Shan recently underwent a breast augmentation surgery from an unlicensed beautician in Johor.

Lewis Cheah, claiming to be Wei Shan’s friend had been one of the first few to announce her passing on Facebook. As stated in a video uploaded by Lewis: “My friend is a bubbly girl who loves to smile. But now, we won’t see her smile anymore. Wei Shan went to the hospital on the same day after (finishing) her breast enhancement. In the end, (she passed away) in two days!”
Wei Shan’s husband later shed further light on the issue during her funeral. He claimed his wife had undergone the surgery on 29th July at the beautician’s house in Skudai, Johor where hyaluronic acid was injected into her chest. However, after returning from the treatment, she reportedly felt dizzy and unwell. They also noted the surgery site looked swollen and inflamed.
On 30th July, Wei Shan went to a clinic and a doctor then informed Wei Shan her condition was worse because of an anesthetic overdose. She was sent to the hospital for treatment, but her condition deteriorated further on 2nd August. Wei Shan was transferred to the ICU, but she passed away two hours later.

A doctor’s preliminary examination allegedly revealed Wei Shan’s surgery site was infected with bacteria. However, Wei Shan’s husband added that the hospital has taken blood samples and more for laboratory tests. The results will reportedly be released in three months. Unfortunately, Wei Shan’s husband had more bad news to share.
“I investigated everywhere after my wife’s accident, only to discover the beautician was not licensed,” he claimed. Apparently, Wei Shan had not known the beautician Ayu Natasya well either, she had been introduced to her by a friend. Wei Shan’s husband insisted his wife had first rejected the breast augmentation, as she had only wanted to undergo a micro-facial “thread pulling” surgery.
“But the beautician told my wife she had already bought the materials. She was (guilt-tripping) my wife into accepting the injections,” he reportedly said. One message from the beautician, sent after Wei Shan shared about her visit to the hospital. The woman had asked Wei Shan to “not say anything to the doctors“. “If I get reported, I’ll get caught,” the message read. “I was only trying to help you.”

Many have advised Wei Shan’s family and friends to report the case to the police. But, Wei Shan’s husband is concerned the punishment might not fit the crime as Ayu Natasya’s husband is supposedly a policeman. “Netizens told me this, but after I verified it, (I’ve confirmed) the information is true,” he told China Press.
China Press added that they have visited Ayu Natasya’s home on Sunday (6th August). No one answered the door then, however a security guard there too confirmed her husband worked as a policeman. The beautician’s Facebook accounts, both personal and business, have been closed and her TikTok account has reportedly been made private.
Wei Shan’s husband later said he had been waiting for Ayu Natasya to contact him following the incident, even hoping she would formally apologize to the family at the mourning hall. But, the beautician has seemingly gone to ground and remains uncontactable. Wei Shan’s husband has reportedly announced that he will be filing a lawsuit against Ayu Natasya.

Wei Shan leaves behind her husband and two sons, 9 and 12, respectively. Her oldest was to celebrate his birthday this month on 15th August. Her funeral and cremation ceremony were held yesterday (6th August) in Johor Bahru. We offer our sincere condolences to her family.
