One of the most well-known magazine-publishing companies in Malaysia, Blu Inc Media Sdn Bhd, has close down beginning today (Thursday, 30th April).
Blu Inc has been in the business for almost 4 decades, with 20 local and international lifestyle titles in English, Malay and Chinese. They include CLEO, Her World, Harper’s Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Jelita, Female, Glam and The Peak.
In a letter signed by CEO Datin Azliza Tajuddin, she said that the board of directors have come to a conclusive decision to cease all its digital and print publications under Blu Inc. She also explained that business had already been suffering over the past couple of years. The Covid-19 crisis was ultimately the final nail in the coffin.
“With the current Movement Control Order to contain Covid-19, the losses continued even more for the months of March and April, and this trend is expected to continue for the next few months. It is uncertain that we will be able to see any light at the end of the tunnel,” Azliza was quoted as saying.
Jolston Ng and Faizal Hadi as general managers, together with Shireen Goh, Bowen Tee and Connie Lee of the accounts department, as well as Habibah Muhammad of the human resource team have been appointed to assist Blu Inc through this process.
