Birkenstock, adidas Drop 2 New Kicks & We’re Obsessed With Them!

Besides being your everyday foot protection, shoes are there to round out your overall look. So why settle for any typical, basic black footwear when you can add a splash of colour to your ensemble?

From tried and tested sandals, to experimental sneakers – here are new footwear drops that’ll zhuzh up your appearance.

Birkenstock 60th Anniversary Limited-Edition Zürich Sandal Collection

Birkenstock has been giving the world the most comfortable and stylish footwear for over 250 years now. And though some shoe designs and silhouettes come and go, there are some that are so iconic that they stand the test of time; one such example is the Zürich Sandal. Now celebrating its 60th anniversary, the German shoe manufacturer is giving it a special treatment, and dropping it in stores in a massive array of colours.

To put things into perspective, Karl Birkenstock debuted the silhouette in 1964 as his second sandal that featured an integrated footbed. The shoe was originally called the “Closed Model” due to its wide upper, exposed natural composition, and double buckles, it would later be renamed the Zürich for its Brutalist build. Its design was praised for its functionality and foot health benefits upon its debut, and it has since gone on to achieve universal appeal.

The brand’s anniversary capsule, which features four colorways—”Dark Red,” “Dark Green,” “Light Blue,” and “Light Green”—combines elements of the original design with the label’s modern style codes while still being inspired by vintage fashion.

The silhouette has vintage buckles and soles that are identical to those on the 1964 model, but the soft suede and premium leather uppers give the silhouette a more contemporary, upscale look. Meanwhile, the anatomically shaped cork-latex footbed upholds the company’s centuries-old shoemaking heritage.

The limited-edition Zürich Sandal collection is available now on Birkenstock’s official website.

Brain Dead x Adidas Stan Smith

The German athletic brand adidas has had its fair share of creative collaborations with various other brands and artists, delivering the most unique and stylised footwear to ever grace the market. However, its collaboration with the Los Angeles-based company, Brain Dead, might prove to be the most ground-breaking move yet.

The two had previously joined forces to create iconic bowling shoes, but now, they are back at it again to bring us their own special take on the Stan Smith sneaker. As a stark contrast to adidas’s normal black and white colour scheme, Brain Dead has taken these shoes and given them a big splash of colour and personality.

Rather than two designs like the last time, these sneakers are coming in hot with four distinct colours – “Shadow Green,” “Vapour Pink,” “Clear Brown,” and “Light Bahia Blue.” Each of these full-leather designs features a striking three-tone colour palette, where the body, the shoe collar, and the sole have some eye-catching looks that aren’t too loud.

The two brands are also scattered throughout, with the adidas logo located by the shoe’s sole, Brain Dead’s perforated logo on the lateral side, and the combination of both on the very tongue.

Yet the most distinct design choice is the collection’s turf-like detailing attached to the back of the heel and frayed laces, creating a unique textural design and sensation.

The Brain Dead x adidas Stan Smith will be available for purchase on the Adidas webstore on 7th September.
