The time has come for us to say goodbye to the iconic mall that held childhood memories of movies, games, flea markets and comfort food restaurants as eCurve will soon be demolished and revamped into an eco-friendly serviced apartment. According to NST, demolition is set to begin in the second quarter of 2024 and will be turned into a residential project.

“The Lines” is the name of the new service apartment that is set to replace the once iconic mall to further better the environment. The project will contain four buildings, three of which will house 749 units and the remaining building will hold 250 units with an additional 50 units of retail lots. Although the price of each unit has not been released, the idea of this new residential project is to create affordable living spaces.

CEO of Boustead Properties, Khairul Azizi Ismail, stated that this decision to redevelop eCurve is part of a broader plan to revitalise Mutiara Damansara. He explained that the idea for this development falls in line with global trends in urban regeneration to create a more vibrant and sustainable environment for the residents of Mutiara Damansara.

Khairul also informed that he plans to bring out the untapped value within Mutiara Damansara’s commercial area. He stated that if the once iconic mall is transformed into a living space, the development will be beneficial as the MRT station is within walking distance as well as many commercial malls and shops surrounding the area. The demolition of eCurve is set to be finished by the second quarter of 2024 and the new residential project will be launched by the third quarter of 2024.

Many people took to social media to share their thoughts on this change. The majority of the comments left were from people who saw eCurve as the hangout destination as kids, and even in their teenage years. Others shared their anger toward the idea, stating that there are too many apartments being opened and the need for more outdoor areas needs to be considered.

eCurve opened its doors back in 2006 and instantly became the destination for dates, family days and many more activities. With its fun and outdoor mall concept, it was an ideal place for visitors of the mall to hang around and enjoy the fresh air. Sadly, the relevancy of the mall started to fade over time until it stopped operations in May 2021.

What do you think about this new development?
