Anyone else has a guilty pleasure of reading anonymous confessions made on the internet? Some stories can be pretty cringe, others sad and some are plain funny. But at its core, they are all interesting. Take this confession found on a local Facebook group recently.

Being a boyfriend is no easy feat. After all, they often strive to give their soulmates the best in life. Well, this guy felt he was lacking as a boyfriend because he could only give his girlfriend RM2000 a month as pocket money. Needless to say, he had a lot of interested netizens lining up after that!

The post appeared in Tantan Confessions Malaysia. Apparently, this boyfriend wanted his internet friends’ opinion on his situation. His first question caught many off guard. “How much money do you have to give your girlfriend a month to be considered a qualified boyfriend?” he asked.

He went on to share that he earns a salary of RM6000 and sets aside RM2000 each month for his girlfriend. Apparently, he gives it to her as pocket money. “Is that too little?” he asked. “But (when we go out) to eat, drink milk tea, eat dessert, go (on dates) and give gifts, I will still pay.”

The girlfriend is apparently working and earning her own money, just not a lot, in his opinion. “I give her RM2000 so she can live a better life,” he admitted. “How much do you guys give your girlfriend every month?” Needless to say, his question left many netizens amazed and very much head-over-heels for him.

“Let your girlfriend go,” one suggested. “How about chasing me? I envy her for having such a good boyfriend! Why can’t I meet (one too)?” Others suggested hitting them up too, hoping for a shot. “I need a boyfriend like this,” another comment read. “My ex was so stingy, he charged me for RM8.”

Girls weren’t the only one knocking on his door. Some boys got cheeky too. “You already have a girlfriend,” one wrote. “How about a boyfriend?” Another asked, “Accepting guys?” Other guys felt he was ‘ruining the market’. “Do you know that if you post these kind of things, it will destroy the whole market for (getting girls)?” one comment quipped.

However, others felt he was being excessive. “Did (her) parents get RM2000???” one asked incredulously. “Feels more like an ATM than a boyfriend,” another observed. “Giving your parents the money is better,” a comment advised. “Give it time, it’s RM2000 for now, after marriage it will be RM6000,” one warned. Others were simply amazed that you could ‘earn’ money by being a girlfriend.

Well, on one hand it certainly shows that he cares a lot for his girl! However, we do understand that the situation could be bad if his girlfriend takes advantage of his generosity. Hopefully not. If she does however, there’s apparently, plenty more willing fishes in the sea!
