The 14th annual BET Awards has successfully wrapped up and it has proven to be one of the best awards show of the year with all the spectacular performances from the finest performers and the winners of the night.
The awards celebrate African Americans and other minorities in music, acting, sports, and other fields of entertainments, Kevin Durant and Serena Williams took home the awards for Subway Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year respectively. After receiving an Oscar earlier this year, “12 Years a Slave” star Lupita Nyong’o won the Best Actress award for her role as Patse in the film.
After sweeping the Grammys with his addictive sing-along tune, “Happy”, Pharrell Williams became the biggest winner of the night as he took home the awards for Best Male R&B/pop Artiste and Best Video for “Happy”.
Previously, we reported that the legendary pop icon Lionel Richie will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award as BET Awards will be paying a tribute to honour him. While the tribute features soulful performances by Pharell Williams, Ledisi and Yolanda Adams, the best part of the tribute was when Lionel Richie performed “All Night Long” and “Easy Like Sunday Night”.
