2 weeks ago, “Iron Man” actress, Gwyneth Paltrow, took to Instagram to re-post a photo of a young cancer patient in his hospital bed and wrote, “Hey @robertdowneyjr and #chrisevans, want to take a road trip? I will drive you guys down”.
So real life superheroes, Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr. alongside with Paltrow, took a helicopter to pay a surprise visit to 18-year-old Ryan Wilcox, an “Avengers” super fan who is battling cancer, in San Diego on Monday (23rd May).
Wilcox is diagnosed with Leukemia, a type of the blood cells cancer which starts in the bone marrow where blood cells are made, for the 2nd time this year.
In the original Instagram posting, Wilcox’s friends had reached out to the cast of “Avengers”, explaining: “What we want for Ryan if possible is to meet the actors and actresses of the Avengers, especially Chris Evans who plays Captain America. He isn’t doing too well and this would be a major way to boost his spirits and quite frankly be the best moment of his life if he literally got to meet his hero!”

The Marvel superstar trio spent the whole afternoon hanging out with Wilcox and his family and even signing a few autographs, including the large poster hanging on his bedroom wall.
Prior to meeting the “Avengers” super fan, Evans had already sent a special video message on 6th May that was played during a pep rally at Wilcox’s high school.
“I’m glad to know you are on Team Cap. I just wanted to say stay strong. I know you are fighting the good fight. It’s people like you, strength like yours, that inspire people like me. So, thank you, really, from the bottom of my heart. I’m thinking of you, I’m with you,” said the “Captain America” star.
