Meet Bryan Lewis Saunder, the man who has a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from East Tennessee State University, US. An expert hand in fine arts isn’t the easiest skillset or study to master. But this artist from Washington D.C. takes his work to the next level. Heck, he takes his work to a whole new level.
A level that will scare most parents.
Taking a completely unconventional approach to his artwork, Bryan decides to self-experiment on arguable his most interesting project to date – or ever. Entitled, “DRUGS”, his project required him to take various types of yes, you guessed it – drugs. The outcome was a collection of self-portraits that he drew while under the influence of various substances ranging from cocaine, to marijuana, to DMT (Dimethyltryptamine, a psychedelic drug).
On the project, he described it as:
After experiencing drastic changes in my environment, I looked for other experiences that might profoundly affect my perception of the self. So I devised another experiment where every day I took a different drug and drew myself under the influence. Within weeks I became lethargic and suffered mild brain damage. I am still conducting this experiment but over greater lapses of time. I only take drugs that are given to me.

And then, it gets completely disfigured. You can almost imagine the incoherence in his speech when you look at the below pictures.

Astonishing, but at the same time, scary. It’s interesting to look at but we don’t condone drugs, not the least bit. Props to Bryan for being gutsy enough to express his work in that way though.
