Anyone and everyone who is a music fan knows of Coachella – the annual music and arts festival set in the Coachella Valley in California. Performing at the event is also proof of an artist’s popularity and status in the music industry, so it’s no surprise fans are excited to hear that K-pop girl groups aespa (에스파) and NewJeans (뉴진스) may join the lineup for 2025.
Recently, a K-pop fan took to Twitter to share what appears to be the potential list of performers for the 2025 edition of the Coachella music festival, scheduled for 11th to 13th and 18th to 20th April 2025. The unconfirmed list included some big names in the industry, like Dua Lipa, Lil Nas X and Tyla. Also included in the list are aespa and NewJeans, who are rumoured to perform at the Sahara and Coachella stages, respectively.

It’s always exciting for your favourite K-pop group to possibly be part of music history. However, MYs (aespa fans) and Bunnies (NewJeans fans) might want to keep their expectations low because the circulated list is fake. Soon after posting the “leak”, the same Twitter user noted that the source was unreliable and none of the information was credible. The user also apologised for their mistake and for unintentionally spreading misinformation.
Regardless, many are excited about the possibility of the two girl groups appearing at Coachella. If aespa’s participation is confirmed, it would be their second appearance at the music festival. The quartet performed at Coachella 2022 as part of 88rising’s “Head In The Clouds Forever” set. On the other hand, NewJean would’ve made their first appearance. However, the global phenomenon is known for their incredible stage presence, so they’re sure to captivate the audience.
K-pop acts, in general, are no strangers to Coachella because groups ATEEZ (에이티즈) and LE SSERAFIM (르세라핌) made their first appearance at the music event earlier this year. BLACKPINK (블랙핑크) made history in 2023 as the first K-pop act to headline the festival. Other Korean acts like Epik High (에픽하이) and CL (씨엘) have also performed at Coachella, with the latter making headlines when she brought out her 2NE1 (투애니원) members for a surprise reunion during her 2022 set.

While the list isn’t legitimate, there’s no harm in still hoping for the two girl groups to make an appearance. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think aespa and NewJeans will perform at Coachella 2025? Or are there any other K-pop acts you’d like to see at the music festival?
