Celebrity couple Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have had a rough time lately. Rumours that the couple are heading for a divorce began circulating earlier this year – and it seems it might be true.
According to multiple sources close to the couple, Jennifer and Ben have recently signed divorce papers. However, they’re waiting for the “right time” to submit them and finalise the separation. The two were said to have tried reconciliation in recent weeks but it looks like efforts to save their marriage have failed. While media outlets couldn’t reach the couple for comment, sources say that the couple will release a statement soon to address the situation.
Seemingly cementing the divorce claims was that Ben reportedly bought a new home during Jennifer’s 55th birthday, which the “Batman v Superman” actor was not present for. Friends of Jennifer said the sudden move felt like “a stab to the heart” for the singer. However, the “On The Floor” vocalist also recently sold her New York City penthouse, and the two also put their Beverly Hills mansion up for sale.
The love story of Jennifer and Ben dates back years and they were previously engaged in 2002 but called off the engagement in 2004. The two later married Marc Anthony and Jennifer Garner, respectively, before separating from their partners. The 55-year-old and the 52-year-old then started dating again in 2021 before officially tying the knot in 2022. Despite defying the odds with their reconciled love, the pair couldn’t make their relationship work.
However, some are still hoping that “Bennifer” could work out their differences. One friend of Jennifer’s said, “She (Jennifer) has thrown her heart and soul into her love story with Ben and will not give it up without a fight. From what I hear, there is still a lot of love there, so there must be hope.”
