Many female celebrities, both married and unmarried, have had their fair share of being involved in pregnancy rumours. In some cases, the allegations sparked from the celebs merely gaining a bit of weight, leading to the stars calling netizens out for fat shaming. Recently, netizens claimed two public figures are expecting – but are they true?
The first star netizens suspect is pregnant is former Taiwanese actress Joey Wong (王祖贤), known best for her role in the Hong Kong movie, “A Chinese Ghost Story”. While Joey hasn’t been in the new project for years, netizens still get updates on the star from her social media. Recently, a XiaoHongShu user posted a video of Joey at a temple event in Vancouver. In the video, Joey was partaking in the event, wearing a simple striped shirt and a face mask.
However, netizens pointed out that Joey’s stomach appeared slightly large when she stood up. This image gave netizens the impression that the 57-year-old was pregnant. However, the original poster denied those allegations, clarifying that the “large belly” that netizens see is merely her baggy clothes bunching up.
Another star caught up in pregnancy rumours is Chinese model Carina Zhang (張馨月), the wife of Hong Kong actor Raymond Lam (林峯). Talks of Carina being pregnant have been circulating online for some time despite the model showing no signs of pregnancy in her recent social posts. After months of speculation, her husband Raymond finally responded to the allegations.
In an interview with HK01, Raymond said that his wife has been busy as of late and maintaining a fit figure as part of her model duties. However, he eludes that the couple are too occupied with work to have another child, thus denying the pregnancy rumours. Previously, Raymond revealed that he hasn’t seen his family in weeks due to his busy schedule and will only get to meet his wife and daughter during his upcoming break.
It must be hard for stars to deal with groundless rumours – but on the bright side, at least the fans seemed excited at the thought of their favourite stars expecting.
