Malaysians have been persistent in their support for the people of Palestine and have stayed firm by boycotting certain international brands. As many of you are aware, McDonald’s Malaysia is one of the global brands that took a big hit from the boycott and has been relentlessly trying to win their customers back.

While not confirmed, it was believed that a McD outlet in Shah Alam closed down due to the boycott and it looks like another one has followed suit. A couple of days ago, two photos were posted on the Langkawi Kini Facebook page that showed a closed-down McDonald’s outlet located in Langkawi Fair Shopping Mall.

According to the captions, the outlet had operated for nearly 25 years before its closure. It was assumed that the reason for the closure was due to the ongoing boycott. A popular restaurant closing down would usually sadden customers but netizens in the comments section of the Facebook post were glad to see that their efforts of boycotting paying off with some reminiscing of the times they used to dine there.

Twitter, on the other hand, had more mixed reactions to the news. The photos were reposted on the MALAYSIA MOST VIRAL Twitter page and just like in the previous article, some netizens were concerned about the staff now being unemployed. However, many speculated that the closure was not necessarily due to the boycott but because the mall itself hasn’t been doing well lately.

As for those worried about the now-former McD employees, a few commented that there’s no need to worry as there are a lot more job opportunities out there and urged those to support and apply for jobs for local companies. At the time of writing, there has been confirmation on why exactly this particular McD outlet closed down.
