Uh oh, the ugly divorce between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt has just escalated.
In the latest round of the former couple’s divorce proceedings, TMZ reports that Jolie has agreed to seal court documents at Pitt’s insistence because he is “terrified the public will learn the truth” about the breakdown of their marriage.
To recap, the 53-year-old actor requested to make custody details in regards to their kids — Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, as well as 8-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne — private. This was after Jolie’s lawyer filed paperwork outlining the former flame’s temporary, voluntary arrangement with the court.
In Pitt’s request to seal the court documents, Jolie was accused of “continuing to place her own interests above those of the minor children and to disregard their privacy rights when she believes it may benefit her” after exposing “the children by making public the names of their therapists and other mental health professionals”.
However, Jolie’s lawyer Laura Wasser stated in the new documents that Pitt’s intention is to “deflect from [his] own role in the media storm which has engulfed the parties’ children“. The family was allegedly involved in a serious argument on board a private jet. This prompted the FBI to investigate and Pitt has been cleared of child abuse allegations.
Jolie’s documents continue, “There is little doubt that [Brad] would prefer to keep the entire case private, particularly given the detailed investigations by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Dept. of Children and Family Services into allegation of abuse.”
Although both Jolie and Pitt have come to an agreement to seal the documents, there is still animosity between the 2.
Jolie filed for divorce on 19 September 2016 after 2 years of marriage.
