After tying the knot with Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau (刘德华) in 2008, former Malaysian model Carol Chu (朱麗蒨) has mostly kept a low profile. While the 59-year-old rarely makes solo public appearances, a recent photo of her surfaced online, drawing a lot of attention from netizens.
Recently, photos have circulated online, showing Carol aboard what appears to be a ship. According to reports, she was participating in a Buddhist activity in mainland China. The former model was dressed simply in an oversized tee, with her hair in a ponytail and a face mask covering her face.
Despite the understated appearance, with the addition of the Chanel handbag worth nearly HK$50,000 (approximately RM25,380), netizens could still recognise Carol. It’s also worth noting that Carol often wears a face mask when in public, even when she’s with her husband, so fans were more familiar with her masked appearance.
The recent photos of Carol sparked conversation online, mostly about her well-maintained looks. According to those who encountered her in person, the Penangite has a flawless complexion with no visible wrinkles despite her age. Some also pointed out that her hair is jet black and lustrous, showing no signs of greying.
Carol has also captured media attention recently after film producer Tiffany Chen shared about the early days of her relationship with Andy Lau. Tiffany remarked that the Malaysian used to travel in separate cars from the actor to avoid leaking their romance to the public during the height of his career. The producer noted that Carol sacrificed a lot to be with Andy.
The actor has also acknowledged his wife’s sacrifices throughout their relationship, thanking her for her constant support. The couple has been together since the late 1980s and welcomed their daughter Hanna in 2012.
