When it comes to famous celebrity couples, we can’t deny that Hong Kong stars Andy Lau (刘德华) and Tony Leung (梁朝伟) will usually come to mind. After all, aside from their talents on-stage and on-screen, the duo’s loving relationship with their respective wives are very well-known!
There’s been plenty of stories about Andy Lau and Tony Leung’s affections for their wives. But what is the secret to their dedication and long-lasting love? Well, these two Hong Kong stars recently deigned to share and left many amused by their answers.
In a recent interview for their upcoming film “The Goldfinger (金手指)”, Andy and Tony were asked about their relationships with their significant others. Both married their respective wives in 2008 and have seemingly had a happy marriage all these years. Which, of course, begs the question: What is their secret?
Tony admitted that he and his wife, Carina Lau (刘嘉玲) have opposite personalities. “I am very withdrawn and seldom accompany her. (Occasionally), I accompany her to have dinner with friends. But, sometimes, I am really afraid of situations with many people,” Tony shared. “She likes being lively and I like the quiet.” Yet, they have gotten along well, and Tony attributes that to Carina’s willingness to accommodate him and the mutual respect they have for one another.
On the other hand, Andy claims he and wife, Malaysian model Carol Chu (朱丽蒨) both enjoy a quiet life. Andy also joked that he isn’t sure what Carol likes about him. “When we’re together, she accommodates me, and I, her,” he said. “In the past, we (stayed apart) in two different places and could go half a year without speaking to each other on the phone.” That got a chuckle out of the interviewer who quipped that Andy and Carol’s relationship was “worse than a long-distance one“.
It’s no secret that both Andy and Tony adore their wives and families. Andy even shared that he became a vegetarian 10 years ago, to develop the habit alongside his wife and daughter. And of course, Tony’s tolerance for Carina’s love for luxury bags is renowned.
Well, we can’t deny that Andy Lau and Tony Leung’s love for their partners might just be the biggest secret to a long-lasting relationship. Here’s to hoping their love will continue for many more years!
