For years, Airbnb has been a great alternative to expensive hotels – but at the same time, we’ve seen a lot of cases where guests complained about getting cheated or scammed. Adding to the list of unsatisfied Airbnb customers is this Twitter user who complained about his stay at a unit in Trion @ Kuala Lumpur.
Twitter user Akid Rosli wrote about his stay at the condominium complex in Chan Sow Lin, sharing that he was interested in staying there due to its facilities, room size and the view from the unit. However, unbeknownst to him, the booking came with a huge flaw – the crowd. According to Akid, the majority of the units in the condominium were rented out as Airbnbs, so there were a lot of tourists during his stay.
In his Twitter thread, Akid mostly lamented the long wait time for the lift, which he said was always full. He even had to wait an hour just to enter the lift. Because of the crowd, Akid said the lift would often stop at almost every floor during the way up, causing a longer wait for him to get to his unit floor. He added that the crowd also made it difficult to enjoy the facilities there, saying that the pool felt like being at Sunway Lagoon because of the crowd.
Akid’s Twitter thread led to netizens sharing their opinion about the same condominium. Some former visitors of Trion @ KL shared the same sentiments as Akid, lamenting about the terrible lift system. One even said that during his visit, there was only one lift in operation, which caused an even longer wait. Some also had similar experiences at other condominium Airbnbs, like the Windmill Upon Hills building near Genting Highlands.
However, the thread also tackled the issue of Airbnb hosts renting out units at high-rise buildings. Many believed that the management should ban the homeowners from renting out their units specifically for short-term stay purposes. One former resident at an apartment complex spoke about her experience living with Airbnb guests, saying that Airbnb had caused a lot of trouble for the apartment’s actual residents. Many also lamented the irresponsible hosts who don’t even live at their units to understand the inconvenience they cause by renting out their apartments to tourists.
