Be Careful When You Purchase AirAsia X’s Unlimited Pass, Warns Netizen

In an attempt to salvage the devastating hit experienced by the tourism industry, AirAsia X has launched an offer of unlimited flights for a year.

Priced at RM499, travellers can “fly as many times as you want” for 12 months within the Asia-Pacific region. This promo, which is currently on sale till this Friday (7th March), is valid for travel from now through 2nd March 2021.

Due to coronavirus outbreak, many holiday tours and concert shows have been cancelled or postponed. AirAsia X is hoping this generous offer will help with traffic recovery in the midst of the downturn in air travel, especially around Asia.

The low cost carrier’s terms and conditions are quite standard. Airport taxes, add ons and other charges aren’t included in the redemption. Also, the AirAsia Unlimited Pass is exclusive to BIG Members in Malaysia only.

While the RM499 offer is certainly too good to pass, one should always read the fine print carefully. As pointed out by Twitter user @Fieza1225, many of these flights are to countries with high risk of coronavirus (e.g.: Japan, South Korea, China).

In addition, the AirAsia Unlimited Pass promo code is only applicable to long haul flights. It excludes flights to Bali, Singapore, Jeddah and Fly-thru routes. Since redemptions are limited (AirAsia X isn’t saying how many passes are up for grabs), all flights during public holidays, school breaks and weekends probably won’t be available.

Even with the Unlimited Pass, @Fieza1225 screenshots a few examples on how much one still has to fork out to countries such as Tokyo (Japan) and Perth (Australia) during October later this year.

Like we said, there are pros and cons to everything.
