AirAsia Offers Cheap Flights For #GE13 Voters

From now until 30th April for the travel period from 22nd April until 5th May, AirAsia X is offering low fare for overseas Malaysians who want to come home to vote!

The airline’s “Fly Home To Vote” campaign allows eligible Malaysian voters in Australia to fly home to Kuala Lumpur with fares as low as low as A$199 (RM634). Those in Japan can fly home for as low as 12,000 (RM366); China 600 yuan (RM294); Korea 129,000 won (RM344) and Taiwan TW$3,290 (RM332).

For domestic travellers, fares start from RM29 one way for Kuala Lumpur to Johor Baru, Penang, Alor Setar, Terengganu, Langkawi and more, while all-in-fares from Kuala Lumpur to Kuching, Sibu, Sandakan, Miri, Kota Kinabalu, Tawau and more start from RM59 one way.

AirAsia Berhad estimates that over 30 thousand passengers will be flying daily on the budget airline during the election fever from the 4th till the 6th of May. Interested travellers must be registered Malaysian voters and are required to provide details such as:

  • Full name
  • Birth date
  • MyKad number
  • Passport number and expiry date
  • Place of departure

Travellers departing from Perth, Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Taipei, Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Beijing and Shanghai are also required to give their planned departure and return dates. AirAsia X said it would validate these details with the Election Commission to ensure the voting eligibility of its passengers.
