Chinese actress Tang Wei (汤唯) and South Korean film director Kim Tae-yong (김태용) have been married since 2014 and are parents to one daughter, born in 2016. However, there are now rumours that the couple are expecting their second child, 10 years after welcoming their firstborn.
Earlier this week, news outlets have been buzzing about the 46-year-old actress’s rumoured pregnancy. The allegations first sparked when Tang Wei was out and about with her husband in Beijing. While nothing seemed out of the ordinary, many noted that the star would occasionally cover her abdomen with her handbag. Many took the behaviour as her trying to hide her growing baby bump.

However, the second incident seemed to add more weight to the rumours. During an event appearance with actress Ni Ni (倪妮), fans spotted Tang Wei whispering something into the star’s ear. After hearing what her friend had to say, Ni Ni then looked down at Tang Wei’s abdomen and showed a surprised reaction. She then reportedly asked the surrounding crowd to give some space and not push the supposedly expecting mother.
Neither Tang Wei nor her husband has commented on the allegations. However, netizens continue to discuss the possibility of the pair expecting another child. While some express happiness for the couple, others raised concerns about the actress going through a pregnancy at her age. Many cited the increased health risks in advanced maternal age for both mother and child, including complications with birth.

The pregnancy rumours also come after claims that Tang Wei and Kim Tae-yong are facing marital problems. Since the actress is based in Beijing with their daughter while the director resides mainly in South Korea, there are rumours that the couple have quietly split. However, the pair have denied the allegations, even publicly displaying affection during their joint appearance at the 2024 Blue Dragon Film Awards in South Korea.
For now, fans can only wait for Tang Wei to confirm or deny the pregnancy rumours. Nevertheless, we wish the best for the actress and hope she’s taking good care of herself.
