Congratulations to Chinese actress Tang Wei (汤唯)! After announcing her second pregnancy at age 46, the star has welcomed a healthy baby boy with her husband, South Korean director Kim Tae Yong (김태용)!
The actress shared the joyous news through her WeChat Moments. In her post, Tang Wei quoted her daughter, Summer, writing, “Summer: Our family journey is about to begin!”. The post also included a photo of the family’s hands clasped around the newborn’s and a drawing of a pony to signify the baby being born in the Year of the Horse.
Tang Wei has yet to disclose additional information about her new baby boy, including his name and date of birth. Nevertheless, fans have shared congratulatory messages for the star and her family on social media. Many also wish the actress a smooth postpartum recovery and express hope to see more of the newborn soon.
The “Lust, Caution” actress announced her pregnancy back in April, calling it a pleasant surprise. Before confirming the news, Tang Wei had sparked pregnancy speculations after fans noticed her growing belly during public appearances. Her interactions with friends, including actress Ni Ni, also fuelled the allegations.
Tang Wei’s pregnancy also sparked concern, particularly because of her age. As the star is in her late 40s, many expressed worry for her health and the safety of the pregnancy. However, now that the actress has safely delivered her baby, many of the public’s worries have been alleviated.
In case you’re wondering, Tang Wei and Kim Tae Yong tied the knot in 2014 after meeting on the set of “Late Autumn”. The couple later welcomed their daughter Summer in 2016. Interestingly, as Tang Wei and Kim Tae Yong now have a son and a daughter, many quipped that the couple have “completed” their family of four.
